    The Tomcat Manager is usefull and follows with the basic installation.

    But you need to define a "manager" role  in order to login:

    C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\conf\tomcat-users.xml

    What you need to do is adding an extra role definition called manager and add this role to your preferred user.

    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='utf-8'?>
    <tomcat-users>
      <role rolename="manager"/>
      <role rolename="admin"/>
      <user username="admin" password="admin" roles="admin,manager"/>
    </tomcat-users>

    Inside the Manager can you start/stop applications (like Streamstudio) without the need to restart the whole Tomcat instance.

    It is also possible to undeploy an application before deploying for example an update.
