I am running Lawson's MOVEX (RPG) and SteamServe 3.1.  I have MOVEX setup to send printed data to StreamServe.  However when the spool file gets to the printer device on the StreamServe server I am getting a printer error.  I have the printer device setup on the dpp file, but I did notice when I start the process manager I am getting the following error.  Do I need to fix this for the printing to work.

DirScan::str_tst(2:The system cannot find the file specified. )

    0719-152439: (2391) Start:dir=str_tst\\*.*,0,0

    Hi,

The only event listed are APS1410H. Check working directory if you have all dux files you want to run in the desired folder and check the argument file if -scandux is enabled and what folder it points to.

    Hi,

This log message means that you have an input connector called str_tst which for some reason  can not find an input file. How do you connect Movex to StrS? Over TCP/IP input connector?

What kind of print problem do you have?

Normal Movex setup for printers are: all printers are defined in CRS920 in Movex. Then on the StrS server you use a file: quealias. Here you map the printer name sent from Movex (*DEVICEn) with the physical printer. The syntax is :

Printer name in M3 <tab>Output connector name<tab>UNC path to printer. E.g:

    PRT001  PCL  \\myServer\myPrinter

In these cases you use generic output connectors that can be used for many printers.

If you have defined a new printer in the platform file with a direct connection to the physical device please note that the dpp file is the development tool for maintaining the Platform. The StrS application does not read this file. Rather, you have to export the platform to a *.dua file that the StrS application can read.

I info you provide resolved the printer device going into error.  However I still can not get the spooled output to print on one of the movex printers.  I am working with MOVEX 10.9 and StreamServe 3.0  So I do not have CRS920 to define MOVEX printers.  CRS920 is Work with Replacement Items.

I have a outque on the AS/400 pointing to a virtual pinter on the streamserve server.  I have have an enter in the quealias file where I have MMS435 pointed the printer when I need the picklist to print.  However when I send the picklist to the StreamServe printer it appears in the virtual printer then finishes.  But never prints. I have looked everywhen and can not determine why.

    Hi,

So the data from Movex get to StrS and it is processed there and sent to the printer, but you do not get any document on the printer? Is this an accurate description?

I guess this is a new printer? Does the printer support the driver you use? If for instance you use a PCL5 driver in StrS and the printer don't support PCL5 you won't get any printouts.

    Regards,

    andreas

I am the first person attempting to get printouts from a test envionment.  So all of the printers are new.  But to answer your questions in order, yes I see the document in the virtual printer on StrS, Then it just is gone with no printout any any printer.  I have looked into the log and is states the print completed normally.  To answer your second question yes the printer supports PLC5 and this is what I am using.

    Hi,

Could you turn up the StrS log level (in the argument file -ll 9) and then post the log from the moment MMS435PF hits StrS and until job ends?

It should look similar to this (except for the document name).

    0721-154035: (1719) JobBegin:tcp=,20272
    0721-154035: (1726) collect event:GLS0414A < tcp=,20272
    0721-154035: (1730) preproc event:GLS0414A < tcp=,20272
    0721-154035: (1731) doing event:GLS0414A < tcp=,20272
    0721-154035: (1739)   Process:GLS0414A > PCL(\\myServer\myPrinter)
    0721-154046: (1723) JobEnd:tcp=,20272
    0721-154046: (3079) Server: Job /Internaldb/164 (StrsID: 1296437) completed successfully.

The important part is where the document is delivered.

    Hi,

Ok, this explains things... The file is not beeing processed. As you see there are no event triggered and no process run.

The lost lines message indicate that you receive data that StrS do not understand.

Is this a new server? Have you istalled the Movex connectivity pack? When you start the service, do you get a list of all events that are defined?

    Regards,

    andreas

This is not a new server we have this running production Strs daily.  So I am assuming the MOVEX connectivity pack is installed.  I have attached a copy of the log when I start the process manager.

The problem is I did not set this StrS up.  What the person did is create one dup and one dux file.  Then within the dup and dux they have IN files.  In production today when they send the MMS435 spooled output to the StrS server the CO picknote IN is used to produce the pick list.  I have never seen this done this way and can not figure out how they did this.  To give you a better understand as to what I am seeing I have described the Dup file when I open it using project below.

So when I am looking at directory of events this is what I see.

Under the Message folder I have a folder for each of the IN files from the log above. When you expand each of these folders I can see a IN file and process folder.  When you expand the process folder I can see the OUT file.
